Say's Phoebe

About the Say's Phoebe
Also known as: Say's Flycatcher, Yukon Phoebe
Say's Phoebe
The Say's Phoebe is a medium-sized species of flycatcher found in western parts of North America. They breed further north than any other flycatcher species of the Americas.

Say's Phoebes have a fairly drab plumage, which helps them blend into the plains and foothills where they live and breed. They have brownish grey upperparts with a dark tail and warm cinnamon-colored bellies.

Like other flycatcher species, the Say's Phoebe feeds mainly on insects. They are known for favoring bees and wasps. They feed by watching for prey from perches close to the ground, but will also take food on the wing and glean insects on the ground while hovering.
