Seven Birdorable Mute Swans-a-Swimming

The line Seven Swans-a-swimming in the song “The 12 Days of Christmas” may very well be referring to the Mute Swan. Mute Swans are very common throughout much of Europe, where they are a native species. Mute Swans have been introduced to other parts of the world for their ornamental value.

Five Birdorable Gold-ringed Tanagers

The line Five Gold Rings (also sung Five Golden Rings) in the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" is the first line that does not refer to a bird! Here at Birdorable we had to get creative, since we're all about cute birds, and the Birdorable Gold-ringed Tanager was hatched. Gold-ringed Tanagers are colorful little birds endemic to Colombia.

Four Calling Birdorable Blackbirds

The original line in the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" names four colly birds, an alternate word for the Common Blackbird. The Blackbird is a common backyard bird in Europe and has a melodious song. It also lives in Asia, North Africa and it has been introduced to Australia and New Zealand.
