Baby Birdorable: Blue Jay

June 8th, 2012 in Baby Birds, Blue Jays, Jays 11 comments

If you think our Birdorable birds are cute as adults, what about when they are babies? Below are some baby photos (shared via Flickr Creative Commons) of the Blue Jay. Blue Jays build stick nests in trees and lay about 3 to 6 eggs per clutch. The female takes care of all incubation. During incubation (about 17 days) and the first week or so after the babies are hatched, her mate brings all food to her and to the chicks. Baby Blue Jays fledge about three weeks after hatching.
