If you think our Birdorable birds are cute as adults, what about when they are babies? Here are some baby photos (shared via Flickr) of the Common Loon. Baby Common Loons are precocial, which means they are more mature and mobile than other new hatchlings. Loon chicks are able to swim and dive right after hatching, but they will often ride on their parents' backs during their first 2 weeks to rest, conserve heat and avoid predators.

Pretty cute, right? Be sure to check out our (adult) Common Loon gear!
