Summer is here, and that means that it's time for another Birdorable Bonanza! Our first Bonanza was in 2009, when we introduced 17 new birds, leading up to #200, the Dodo. In 2010 we added 18 birds, finishing with the Secretary Bird. In 2011 we added 19 birds and finished with Birdorable #350, the Carolina Parakeet. And last year we revealed 22 new species, ending with our 400th Birdorable, the Eurasian Eagle-Owl. That brings us to this year. For 2013, we're going big - REALLY BIG - and adding a new bird every day in July until we reveal our 500th species on July 31st! Whew, that's a lot of birds! Tomorrow kicks off with our first bird, a large, distinctive species found in sub-Saharan Africa. Can you guess what it will be?
Happy New Year and best wishes for 2013! We added almost 100 new birds on Birdorable last year, and updated many others. In the picture below you can see all the new bird species we added in 2012, from lovebirds to vultures. Click to embiggen.
Thank you for reading our blog. We have big plans for 2013 and look forward to bring you many more cute birds, so stay tuned. You can also find Birdorable on Facebook

Get ready for the 3rd Birdorable Bonanza! Later this month we'll start unveiling a new bird every day for 19 days in a row -- until our 350th bird species is added to the site. Here's a teaser below. Can you guess what birds we'll be adding?

We're excited to announce that we'll be having another Birdorable Bonanza this summer! We had a bonanza last year, where we added a new bird every day for 17 days in a row (see Birdorable Bonanza 2009). It was so much fun we decided to do it again this year! Starting on July 7th, we'll be adding 18 new birds to Birdorable in our second annual Bonanza! Keep an eye on the blog or follow us on Twitter or Facebook to see all the new birds as they're added to the site each day. Here is a teaser. Can you guess what they'll be?
