The Double-crested Cormorant is a black species of seabird usually found near or on water. They hunt for fish by diving underwater and will do so in either freshwater or saltwater. These lovely birds are named for the crests they develop on either side of the head during breeding season. Males and females both develop the crests, which may be black or white or a mixture of the two.
