Australian Ibis

The Australian Ibis, also known as the Australian White Ibis, is a species of wading bird native to most of Australia. They can be recognized by their mostly white plumage, bare black head, and fluffy black secondary wing feathers that look like lacy tail feathers when the bird is at rest.

Australian White Ibises are widespread, and well-adapted to living in a variety of different habitat types, including urban areas as well as wetlands and grasslands.

Because of their varied habitats, Australian Ibises feed on a variety of prey, including worms, crickets, and other insects, crabs, frogs, and fish, as well as snakes, mice, and carrion.
