About the Azure Kingfisher
Azure Kingfisher

The Azure Kingfisher is a small species of kingfisher found in parts of northern and eastern Australia, as well as Tasmania, New Guinea, and other nearby islands. This little cutie has striking plumage, with wings, back, and head in azure blue, contrasting buffy breast, and white and black highlights.

Azure Kingfishers feed on small fish and crustaceans, as well as insects and frogs. They typically hunt from a perched position above water. Azure Kingfishers are known to follow foraging Duck-billed Platypuses to hunt for prey disturbed by the movement of the unusual animal.
