Black-backed Dwarf-Kingfisher

The Black-backed Dwarf-Kingfisher is a small species of kingfisher that lives in parts of India and southeast Asia. These little birds are extremely colorful, with plumage in shades of pale orange, lilac, blue, and white.

Black-backed Dwarf-Kingfishers are also known as Oriental Dwarf-Kingfishers or Three-toed Kingfishers. They feed on insects, small crustaceans, and fish. Hunting is usually done from a perched position.

Black-backed Dwarf-Kingfishers have a large range, but are fairly sparse within that range. As of September 2014, their conservation status is Least Concern.
