Black-faced Spoonbill

About the Black-faced Spoonbill
Also known as: Blackfaced Spoonbill, Lesser Spoonbill
Black-faced Spoonbill
The Black-faced Spoonbill is an endangered species of spoonbill native to a small range in eastern Asia. They can be recognized by their white body plumage, black facial skin, and long, spatula-shaped bill. Breeding birds (like our Birdorable example) have a yellowish band at the base of the neck.

Black-faced Spoonbills feed on aquatic prey, including fish, insects, crabs, and shrimps. They tend to be crepuscular feeders, meaning they most often eat during twilight hours -- the time around sunrise and sunset.
