Common Hill Mynas, also known simply as Hill Mynas, can be recognized by their glossy mostly black plumage and yellowish wattles on the side of its head and at the nape. They also have white wing patches which are obvious in flight but mostly hidden when the wings are folded.

Common Hill Mynas are known for their amazing vocal skills. They have a large repertoire, consisting of whistles, gurgles, screeches, and more. They can be melodious or grating.
