Double-barred Finch

The Double-barred Finch is a small species of finch native to northern and eastern parts of Australia. They feed on seeds and occasionally on insects. They search for food on the ground and will feed in large flocks of up to 40 individual birds.

Double-barred finches have white underparts which are separated by two dark lines which give the species their name. Because of the dark heart-shaped outline to the face, these birds are also known as Owl Finches.
