The Dusky-headed Parakeet is a species of parrot that lives in the western Amazon where it prefers semi-open habitats such as forest edge or coffee plantations. It is a very social bird and can often be found in groups of sometimes up to 100 parrots when food is plentiful. Its diet consists of fruit, seeds and flowers.
The Dusky-headed Parakeet, known as the Dusky-headed Conure in aviculture, is a popular pet bird. In the wild, the conservation status for this species is Least Concern as of June 2013.
