The Eastern Rosella is a colorful species of parrot native to southeastern Australia, including Tasmania. They have red heads and chests, with white cheeks. The belly is yellow and the back feathers are a mix of different colors and black which are arranged in a scalloped appearance.
Eastern Rosellas prefer woodland habitat. They are vegetarians, dining mainly on seeds and fruit.
Because of their colorful beauty, Eastern Rosellas are sometimes kept as pets. They may live up to 15 or 20 years in captivity. Eastern Rosellas are fairly common in their wild range, with a conservation status of least concern.
