About the Ostrich
Ostrich

The Ostrich is a large flightless bird from Africa. Their long neck and legs give them a distinctive appearance and they are able to run at high speeds of up to 45mph (72km/h), making them the fastest bird on land. Ostriches are also the largest living species of any bird and they lay the largest egg of any living bird.

Ostriches used to live across Africa north and south of the Sahara desert and in much of Asia Minor. Today these large birds prefer open land and are native to the savannas and Sahel of Africa.
