Palm-nut Vulture

The Palm-nut Vulture is an Old World species of Vulture. They live in sub-Saharan Africa.

Palm-nut Vultures have striking adult plumage. They are white with black patches on their wings and bare red skin around the eye. They resemble eagles, especially in flight. Indeed, an alternate name for this species is the Vulturine Fish Eagle.

Palm-nut Vultures feed primarily on oil-palm tree fruit - which is unusual for any bird of prey. They also may feed on fish and other fruits of the sea.
