Plum-headed Parakeet

The Plum-headed Parakeet is a parrot native to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and endemic to the Indian subcontinent. They live in forests and woodlands and nest in holes in trees.

Male parakeets have a bright red and purple head with a black chin stripe, while females lack the stripe and have a grey head. Males also distingish themselves with a red shoulder patch.
