About the Sword-billed Hummingbird
Sword-billed Hummingbird
The Sword-billed Hummingbird is a species of hummingbird found in parts of South America. It is named for its extremely long bill; it's the only species of bird to have a bill longer than its body.

Sword-billed Hummingbirds typically perch with their bills pointed upwards, reducing body strain associated with holding up its extremely large bill. These hummingbirds also do most of their preening with their feet.
