Uncape Parrot

The Uncape Parrot is a species of Poicephalus parrot found in Africa. The Poicephalus family has undergone taxonomic classification changes which has split Poicephalus robustus (the Cape Parrot) from Poicephalus fuscicollis (the Uncape Parrot). Two distinct subspecies of Uncape Parrot exist in most taxonomic classifications: the Brown-necked Parrot and the Grey-headed Parrot.

Both Brown-necked Parrots and Grey-headed Parrots are common in aviculture. They have a life expectancy of about 40 years in captivity and are known for their intelligence, ability to speak, and skill at learning tricks.

Uncape Parrots have a large natural range and have a conservation status of Least Concern as of October 2014.
