The White-breasted Nuthatch is a stocky species of songbird native to temperate parts of North America. They are year-round residents through their range and a common backyard feeding station visitor.

White-breasted Nuthatches have blueish-grey backs with a white face and breast. They sport black caps which forms a frame around the head. They lower belly is chestnut.

White-breasted Nuthatches feed by foraging on tree trunks and branches. They eat both insects and seeds. Like other nuthatch species, they are able to descend tree trunks head-first.
