White-rumped Swallow

About the White-rumped Swallow
White-rumped Swallow
White-rumped Swallows are New World birds found across parts of South America. They prefer open habitats like savanna, pasture, and grasslands. Outside of the breeding season, they are gregarious and may form large (110+ individuals) feeding flocks with other species of swallow.

White-rumped Swallows are insect eaters, feeding while on the wing. They hunt for flies, beetles, flying ants, dragonflies, and other aerial prey.

In the northern part of their range, White-rumped Swallows tend to be sedentary. Birds in the southern part of their range are migratory, heading north for the winter.
