Save the Kakapo

The Kakapo, or Owl Parrot, is endemic to New Zealand. It is thought to be the rarest species of parrot in the world. It's an extraordinary bird: flightless and nocturnal, it is the world's heaviest parrot and it is possibly the oldest living bird. Unfortunately, the species is critically endangered; there are only 126 known individuals left as of 2014.

A dedicated team of people of the Kakapo Recovery Programme work around the clock in an effort to save this amazing creature. Support this great program with our cute Birdorable Kakapo!
