The Northern Wheatear is a medium-sized species of songbird native to parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. There are also pockets of Northern Wheatear found regularly in parts of Canada and Greenland. All Northern Wheatears, including those that breed in Canada, spend the winter in sub-Saharan Africa.



Northern Wheatears are closely related to flycatchers. Breeding male birds have black on their wings and black in a mask-like pattern on the face.
