The Red-headed Lovebird is a small species of parrot native to a wide range across much of central Africa.
Red-headed Lovebirds nest in burrows, usually dug into a termite nest or other ground structure. Because of this unusual breeding habit, Red-headed Lovebirds do not breed easily in captivity and are not overly popular in the pet trade. They have a conservation status of Least Concern.
Red-headed Lovebirds are known to roost and sleep upside-down, hanging from tree limbs.
