The Franklin's Gull is a small species of gull that breeds in parts of Canada. These little gulls are migratory, spending the winter months in parts of South America and the Caribbean.
Most species of gull go through one plumage molt in a year's time. The exception to this is the Franklin's Gull, which cycles through two complete molts per year.
Franklin's Gulls are opportunistic omnivores, like most gulls. The species was named for Rear-Admiral Sir John Franklin, an explorer of the Arctic.
