Crested Owl

About the Crested Owl
Crested Owl
The Crested Owl is a medium-sized species of owl found in parts of Central and South America. They are non-migratory and live in old growth forest habitat, usually near water. These nocturnal birds feed mostly on insects and small vertebrates.

Crested Owls can be recognized by their brown body plumage and by the long, mostly white tufts on their foreheads. There are two color morphs of Crested Owl. Pale morph birds have a tawny or chestnut facial disc. Dark morph birds, like our Birdorable version, have a darker rufous disc with a blackish border and an overall darker body plumage.
